THE SCHOOL IN THE BACALAO ISLANDIA 2024 COMPETITION

Last Thursday, March 21, the prestigious Bacalao Islandia competition took place at the Higher School of Hospitality and Agrotourism of Extremadura in Mérida. The Galdakao School of Hospitality was represented by the candidate Martin Cataldi, who showcased his skills in the dish he prepared for the jury. Among the jury members were Cristina Jolonch (gastronomic critic for La Vanguardia), representatives of Bacalao Islandia Kristin Björnsson and Magnús Jónsson, and Toño Pérez, chef of the Atrio restaurant in Cáceres with three Michelin stars.

The jury awarded prizes to the schools of Barcelona, Seville, and Salamanca, as well as special recognition to the other schools for the high level displayed, ensuring the future of the competition.

The experience was enriching for everyone present, especially for the students of the 19 schools that participated in the championship.
